A very large individual of Vespa tropica apparently searching for prey in a rarely used storage shed of a typical rural compound in Pulau Ubin, Singapore. Vespa tropica preys predominantly on the nests and brood of other social bees and wasps, and this is the typical manner in which individuals of this species seek out target nests. They have possibly learnt that buildings like this are often home to nests of paper wasps such as Polistes species.
