A Polistes gigas nest built inside an abandoned chicken coop. My friend was taking photos with a cellphone camera from one side, while I took this video from the other. Note that there is a large male on the nest, and the single large cell, very long and protuding, shows another male, possibly an even bigger one, about to emerge. Taken in August 2008, this is unseasonally early for males of this remarkable species, which usually appear after November.
