A nest of Vespa ducalis located within a thicket of ferns, near the ground. The nest itself is nearly three feet into the ferns and is not visible. Vespa ducalis is notable for its small colony size, thus the comparatively few wasps going in and out, and for its extremely unaggressive temperament.
